Install Monvilo in Chrome

At launch, installation uses a ZIP file. The extension is not yet available in the Chrome Web Store.

Four steps to your first run

Extract the ZIP
Extract the ZIP to a permanent folder on your computer. Keep this folder after installation.

Open Chrome extensions
Open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.

Load the extension folder
Choose Load unpacked and select the nested adbreak-precision folder containing manifest.json, not the ZIP file.

Open a video in Studio
Open YouTube Studio → Ad breaks → Monvilo.

Check the result: the Monvilo card in Chrome shows version 2.19.1. Then open the ad break editor in YouTube Studio.

Chrome / Chromium 116 or later. Desktop or laptop required.

Replace the files
Extract the ZIP. Copy the contents of adbreak-precision into the existing extension folder, replacing files.
Reload Monvilo
In chrome://extensions, click reload on the Monvilo card. Then refresh the Studio and workspace tabs.
Check the version
The extension card should show 2.19.1.

Keep the extension installed and keep manifest.json in the same folder to retain local settings and history.

Chrome cannot find the extension

Select the extracted adbreak-precision folder containing manifest.json. Do not select the ZIP or its outer folder.

The panel did not appear in Studio

Refresh Studio after installation. Open an eligible video’s ad break editor and check that Monvilo is enabled in chrome://extensions.

How do I keep my settings when updating?

Replace files in the existing folder and reload the extension. Do not uninstall Monvilo or clear browser data before updating.
